This site pays tribute to the builders, from all communities.
These individuals are the true architects of this growth. A corner of the country, rich in its people, that has managed to stand out through its northern identity. Ensuring lasting development over time, adding new infrastructures to serve future generations. Come and visit us…
Thank you to all the families (Ref.: Family Name Directory). These research efforts led to the book “Terre Rouge”, the exhibition “Une Montée vers le Nord”, and the directory “Collection of Residents and Former Residents of Schefferville, Matimekush-Lac-John, Kawawachikamach”, which includes approximately 2,600 photographs. Our history, our community archives—lost and found.
In the memory of Alexandre Napess Mckenzie
This site also wishes to highlight the exceptional contribution of Alexandre McKenzie, tireless defender of his people’s rights and devoted guardian of the North Shore’s collective memory is worthy of a special tribute.
Through his commitment, he preserved and passed on the culture, language, and history of the Innu people, thus enriching the heritage of the Côte-Nord. His work continues to inspire present and future generations to cherish and protect their identity and their land.
An honorary plaque was presented to several employees. In this case, the mining company recognized Grandfather Lemay’s 18 years of service—without a single accident. Each pin (bronze, silver, and gold) represents a year completed with care and caution.
